This position is located at the Milliken Dewey Plant located in Inman, SC and reports to a production manager. A Chemical Operator is a key role in the chemical manufacturing processes. Qualified Chemical Operators will be able to work safely as a team in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment. Entry level associates will be expected to rotate on a 4-on-4-off, 12 hour shift, first-third rotation and will be expected to learn basic chemical and material handling skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation of a forklift
• Complete Hot List pour ups
• Basic chemical blends
• Drum batching from reactors
• Safety participation
• Lifting various raw materials
• Manhandling drums less than 100 pounds

Qualifications Required:

• High School Diploma
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to climb multiple steps, lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, pass medical clearance and wear a full-face respirator
• Computer experience, windows-based software

Qualifications Preferred:

• High level of computer skills
• Prior experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment
• Forklift experience
• SAP experience

Chemical Operator: ability to perform mathematical calculations, ability to comprehend and read written/verbal instructions  

Equipment used : fork lift, pallet jack, drum trucks, computer, chemical hoses  

Physical Requirements : 100% visual acuity, 50% standing, 25% sitting, 25% moving, 20% bending/stooping, 10% climbing stairs/ladders, 15% push/pull, 15% lifting (up to 60 pounds), manhandle up to 100 pound drums, 10% reaching (must be able to lay over drums weighing up to 500 pounds with assistance,  

Safety Equipment Required : safety glasses, safety goggles, steel toe shoes, rain suit, full face respirator, rubber boots, hard hat
